Thermal Engineer

  • End-to-End Thermal Design & Strategy: Lead the design, evaluation, and optimization of data center thermal systems across the entire stack—from silicon/die-level packaging up to rack-level and chiller infrastructure.
  • Hands-on Testing & Characterization: Execute rigorous lab testing and characterization of server hardware using wind tunnels, flow metrology, and temperature measurements; evaluate components like heat sinks, cold plates, and Thermal Interface Materials (TIMs).
  • Simulation & Model Validation: Support and improve thermal simulation models (die, package, and system-level) by cross-referencing and validating them with real-world experimental findings to enhance accuracy and robustness.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal teams—including silicon architecture, packaging, mechanical, and systems engineering—to provide technical guidance, align product requirements, and solve high-density compute thermal challenges.

WHAT YOU’LL OWN

  • Education & Experience: Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or a related field, plus 6+ years of industry experience in electronics packaging, server systems, or data centers.
  • Core Fundamentals: Deep theoretical understanding of heat transfer and fluid dynamics principles.
  • Simulation Skills: Strong proficiency in advanced thermal simulation tools (e.g., Icepak, Flotherm, Celsius).
  • Testing & Lab Experience: Hands-on expertise in thermal testing, including the use of thermal sensors, automated data acquisition systems, physical assembly, and data analysis.
